Hooverville Productions, Inc. (“Hooverville Productions”) is a New York 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation – incorporated on April 12, 2004 – that is dedicated to promoting the performing and visual arts, and to increasing public understanding of and accessibility to such art forms. In order to provide affordable access to arts and culture to those in areas deprived of opportunities to attend performances or exhibits, we strive to seek out – and, if necessary, create – new, non-traditional methods for the delivery of artistic content.
Hooverville Productions will partner with community organizations, schools, 501(c)(3) organizations and other civic organizations to target a broader audience than the traditional ticket subscribers who patronize established performance venues.
The methods by which to attain these goals include: developing and maintaining a comprehensive library of research on the subject of non-traditional performance techniques, to be shared with other performance groups; stewardship and maintenance of funds to grantees whose work demonstrates the values of Hooverville’s mission; innovative web-based and digital-media projects, to support productions and engage the community; and the establishment of community resources, as well as relationships with civic organizations, to foster an environment where the performing arts can thrive.
In addition to its domestic activities, Hooverville Productions is an international organization active in countries where poverty, war, or displacement have robbed the people of opportunities to enjoy artistic performance, or to perform themselves.
